Matt was just getting ready to leave the locker room when he heard someone knocking on the door.
"Come in." he said zipping up his bag.
The door opened slowly and Paige stepped in.
"Hi Matt,"
"Oh, Hi. What are you doing here ?"
"We need to talk,"
"About what ?" he asked coldly.
"About what happened between us, "
"Well your Dad made it pretty clear about how you felt about me."
Matt replied trying to leave to room.
Paige stopped him. "Matt I never said that stuff. After you left my Dad told me you were using me to make someone else jealous."
"Wait, why would he say that ?" Matt asked confused.
Paige sat down, motioning for Matt to sit next to her.
"He was trying to stop us from being together so I'd spend more time with my family."
"Why ?"
Paige took a deep breath. "There's something I need to tell you," she took his hand.
"I'm sick."
"How sick ?" Matt asked looking her in the eyes.
"Really sick. The doctors gave me treatment, but the 'virus' was too strong." Paige chocked back her tears. "I'm dying Matt. I've got cancer."
"Dying ? No, there has to be a mistake."
"No. There isn't. I've known I had cancer for six months, but i thought the chemotherpy would work. I really did."  Paige squeezed Matt's hand and buried her head in his chest.
She was crying. Matt let the tears fall freely. He hugged her and whispered, "We'll get through this, some way."
"I never thought I'd die at 23," Paige said quietly.
"I never thought I'd lose the women I love, but I'm going to."
Paige hugged Matt tighter. "I wish we'd never lost those two months."
"Me either, now that I know."
Paige climbed onto Matt's knee and looked him in the eyes. "Make me a promise,"
"Anything."
"When I die," Matt winced at the words. "Promise me you'll never forget me."
Matt's eyes filled up. "I promise. From the bottom on my heart, I promise I'll never forget you,"
Paige kissed Matt passionetly. She wraped her arms round his neck. Matt pushed Paige down onto the sofa and began to undo her shirt....
