Paige was lying on the sofa in her parents house waiting for Matt to pick her up. They hadn't known each other long but Paige already missed him when he was away. Her older sister Violet and her stepsister Bailey were sitting opposite her.
"You look tired." Bailey commented.
"I wasn't asking for your opinon on how I look," Paige said cooly still looking at the TV.
"When's your next appointment to see the Doctor ?"
"Never you mind, "
"Paige she was only asking !" Violet snapped.
Paige sighed loudly. "Two weeks time."
"Has the medication been working ?" Bailey asked.
"I don't know. That's why I'm going to the hospital."
Paige stood up and walked over to the mirror above the fireplace.
"You know Daddy and Molly are worried about you, you've been going out a lot recently." Violet said watching Paige check her reflection.
Paige picked up the tube of mascara next to her and began putting it on. "So, it's called having a social life. I'm 23."
"Yes but don't you think you might be overdoing it."
"No."
"Look I'm not going to lie to you. Everyone knows your sick, and Daddy dosen't think you should be seeing anyone right now, just incase the treatment isn't working."
Paige slammed the mascara tube onto the fireplace and glared at Violet. "You know what Violet I don't give a damn about what Daddy thinks. I don't care if he thinks I should be dating or not. It's my life and I'll do what I want."
"But Paige your not getting any better and it's showing." Bailey jumped in trying to defend Violet.
"Kiss my ass Bailey. Your little concerned act might work with Dad and Molly, but it certainly dosen't work with me."
Paige and Matt talked while they waited for their food.
"Raw was great on Monday night. That table match was awsome. Did you get hurt ?"
Matt smiled. "I'm OK. Jeff hurt his back pretty badly though. But he should be OK by next week."
"Awww. Well tell him I said I hope he gets better soon."
Paige took a sip from her glass of water. She was enjoying the evening. Theyd been to the movies and now they were in a resturant. It was what couples did, it was what normal couples did.
"You look a little pale, are you feeling OK ?" Matt asked looking at her, his concern showing in his eyes.
"Not you too !" Paige joked. "I'm OK. Just been feeling a little under the weather recently."
"Maybe your getting the flu."
"I wish !" Paige muttered. Matt didn't hear her. He grabbed her hand.
"Paige, these last few weeks I've really enjoyed being with you. I've really missed you while I've been away."
"I've missed you too. Your great to be around, I really care about you."
He smiled. A smile which made Paige's heart melt. "Infact, this may sound dumb. But....I...."
The waiter interupted bringing their food.
"What were your going to say ?" Matt asked grabbing his fork.
"Nothing. It dosen't matter."
Paige woke up the next morning feeling a little tired, but other from that she was really happy. She got out of bed and looked out of the window. It was raining. Even the bad weather couldn't spoil Paige's mood and she hated rain. Paige got dressed into a pair of tight jeans with studs down the side, black boots and a pink shirt.
"I haven't feel this happy since before I found out I had...."
Paige's thoughts were interupted by her stepmom Molly opening the bedroom door.
"Paige sweetie, your father want to talk to you as soon as you've had breakfast."
"Fine." Paige replied cooly. She hated Molly, she was responsible for her parents divorce. She hated her more when she acted concerened. Paige skipped breakfast and found her Dad in his office.
"Morining Dad."
He put down the newspaper and told her to sit down, he looked at her over the top of his glasses.
By the way he stared at her Paige knew he was serious.
