The Seaman

Harry was 15 years old and was getting tired of his boring routine life. Everyday he would walk along the beach to school, have his lessons and walk home the same way. Then homework, tea, TV, bath and bed. BORING!!! He wished and wished something strange and exiting would happen to him like it did to the characters in his horror and sci-fi books.

One day his wish came true, but not like Harry had imagined, not at all.

Harry was walking along the beach as he did every night on his way home from school when he noticed a boat, this was unusual as most boats landed further down but what really made Harry wonder was the ships owner. He was old and very rough looking. With crooked teeth, a stubbily chin and a scar on his right cheek. Harry unable to stay any longer ran home as fast as he could.

The next day on his way to school Harry saw the strange seaman and his boat had left but the odd thing was there was no sign they had ever been.

That evening Harry saw the boat and the seaman again, in the same place, on his way home. But this time he also saw his best friend following the seaman aboard worrying he sat on the shingles and waited.

Half an hour later he saw the seaman leave the boat but his friend was not following. He was very scared about his friends’ wellbeing so he climbed onto the ship to search for him. All he could find aboard the old boat was his friends backpack and coat next to a knife with a silver liquid on the tip. He decided his friend must of left and so he went home.

The next morning Harry’s mum woke him with the sad news that hi friend had died in his sleep, the same friend he had seen board the boat.

As before there was no sign or trace of the boat, but this time a thick sea fog hung heavy on the spot where it had been.

That evening the ship was there once more but Harry saw no sign of the seaman taking this chance Harry decided to explore the boat again. He had been on the boat for ten minutes when he heard footsteps behind him. It was the seaman who bound Harry and carried him further below decks.

Harry said, "Who are you"

To which the seaman replied "Tom Saddle of the many seas"

Astonished Harry said "But your dead"

"Very good" said the seaman "And now so are you" as he sunk the knife into Harry’s back.

The next morning Harry’s mum was shocked to find Harry lying in bed, dead just like his friend had been the morning earlier.

And from that day forth neither the ship nor the seaman have ever been seen again. Dum! Dum! Dum!!
