   A: For 30 years, in various forms

Q: What are your musical influences?
    A: Bill Monroe, Stanley brothers, and traditional bluegrass music

Q: What are your favorite CDs/Records?
   A: Del McCoury Band & The Biscuit Boys

Q: What are your favorite foods?
   A: Split pea soup, Angels on Horseback, Chinese, spaghetti, Italian from the Tuscan region...

Q: What are your favorite things about the Charleston area?
    A: Fishing, salt water, fluff mud, and the beach in the wintertime.

	I remember the first time that I heard real bluegrass music. I was a freshman in college, riding down from Stevens Point, WI, to Chapel Hill, NC. About halfway there, the radio stations became more sparse and suddenly,I heard some true American music. Listening to The Homeboy Discount Band brought me back to that place. Plain and unintrusive in appearance, their bluegrass is pure and homespun. Theirs is the music of crooked front porches and southern sunsets. With many, many years of collective experience, The Homeboy Discount Band is a hidden charm in the Lowcountry. I say "hidden" because you can't find them playing often at area bars or clubs--these favorites are busy entertaining private parties and other groups that are in on the secret on where to find some serious bluegrass in town. But, if you look hard enough...you'll find them!
