It's Too Late Too Early

It's too late too early
To close an open door
When what's out comes in
And won't leave anymore

It's too late too early
To drive and take your time
When an instant of a moment
Happens a wreck of some kind

It's too late too early
To have what you want
Because you failed to do
The very things you don't

It's too late too early
To be innocent of a girl
Who has conceived your child
In a wedless mother's world

It's too late too early
To have and to hold
A dear one you mistreated
Now wearing another man's gold

It's too late too early
To change hate into love
When friends become enemies
And forgiveness is not as was

It's too late too early
To get the lead out
Because the reason for motion
Left feet-draggers in doubt

It's too late too early
For a number of things
Be prepared for each circumstance
For trouble it may bring
