Great 500 Mile Race at Brooklands - Page 6
Several records were broken in the course of the 500-Mile Race. In the 1000cc Class Bert Le Vack set up new Class E (1000cc solo) records from 50 miles at 80.93mph to 500 miles at 70.42mph, and in the process took the Class E one-hour record at 80.39mph, while Freddie Dixon set a new Class E 200-mile record at 74.31mph.

Victor Horsman established new 400-mile, 600-mile, 6-, 7-, and 8-hour records in Class C (500cc solos) at speeds around 62mph. Similarly Norris set new Class B (350cc solo) records on his Ivy two-stroke for 7 hours, 9 hours and 500 miles at just under 5Hmph.

Bert Kershaw picked up records galore on his New Imperial in Class A (250cc solos)- fourteen in all- from one hour at 55.69mph to 9 hours at 50.52mph, and from 100 to 500 miles at speeds from just under 56 to just over 50mph.

So ended the first and last 500-mile Motor-Cycle Race to be held at Brooklands.
