Dan Millman's Laws of Life

Flexibility: Embracing and making active use of whatever situation arises. When pushed, pull; when pulled, push. Everything serves our highest good if we make good use of it.

Choices: The most basic choice we have is whether to bring our creative energies and our expressive energies into the world in positive or negative ways.

Responsibility: Take full charge of that which is our duty and let go of that which is not.

Balance: Anything we do, we can overdo or under do. The pendulum swings back. What we most need is what we most need to give.

Process: Success is a journey. It’s important that no stepping-stone be skipped.

Patterns: Any habit or pattern reasserts itself over time unless deliberately broken by doing something different. Patterns are powerful, for good or bad. An action creates a habit; a habit creates a character; a character creates a destiny

Discipline: Discipline leads to freedom. It provides the focus to achieve the skills and knowledge that open up more options in life. Get your routines down.

Perfection: All is perfect already. Perfection doesn’t exist; excellence is the best we can achieve, and achieving it takes time and practice.

Present Moment: There is neither past nor present. All that exists is this present moment.

No Judgments: The universal spirit does not judge, only gives us opportunities to balance and to learn.

Faith: We know more than we have read, heard or studied. Trust the inherent wisdom and laws of the universe. Self-trust comes through direct experience. Leap and the net will appear.

Expectations: Energy follows thought. What we believe, or expect, shapes our external reality. Create new expectations based on clear intentions

Honesty:

Higher Will: When you dedicate your actions to the highest good of all concerned, you connect your life to a sense of deeper meaning.

Intuition: An emotional connection to our own heart gives a strong sense of identity and connects us to a source of wisdom.

Action: Action brings knowledge to life. Doing is understanding. Sometimes you have to take action no matter what you feel. Leap and the net will appear.

Cycles: Whatever rises, falls, and whatever falls shall rise again. The seasons follow one another endlessly.
