SPPPC Life - For God and For People
The Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Choir is a group of young people from different corners of Calasiao, serving the Parish for almost 17 years now, and at the same time making a good name in and out of the town. Surely we owe this to the virtuosity of our Choir Directress Madam Salome Onofre, not to mention the bunch of talented members we have that was further developed through the efforts of our Voice Trainor, Sir Gilbert Allan Dispo.
But do you know what life is here in SPPPC? Life here is nothing different to our own daily lives. The group has experienced its own ups and downs, laughters and pains, sorrows and triumphs, hate and love, parting and then coming back. These experiences led to an incomparable friendship among members, with some even ending up to marriage. Through out the years, we have discovered and endured each and everyone's poignant but very interesting personality and we have managed to harness the different innate abilities of each member making the SPPPC a blend of talented individuals. SPPPC has been a venue for cultivating individual skills and talents which we have fruitfully used in organizing different projects such as Search for Little Miss Calasiao '95 & '96, the Search for Miss Calasiao 1999 and the yearly Paligsahan sa Awit.
Who can forget the 10th WORLD YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION (1995) in Metro Manila where almost all our male members joined the camp and made big waves with their rendition of BOYS II MEN's So Much In Love and Our Father (4 Voices); The 1995 and 1996 Little Miss Calasiao organized by the SPPPC and the Municipal Government of Calasiao; The Search for Miss Calasiao 1999 was a greater responsibility but the group successfully hurdled this Herculean task with aplomb; The 2 CSI Christmas Carol Singing Contest where the SPPPC won the Grand Prize; The unforgettable experience at GALICAYO Festival 2000 in Manaoag; The yearly Paligsahan sa Awit which is on its 12th year now (2004); The Baguio experience where the SPPPC sang during the wedding at PMA and went home like "basang sisiw"; The experience singing with the De Capo Strings Quartet and Nuevo Ensemble ( Christine & Ian -2001, Maan & Joven - 2002 and Maxi & Ann Laforteza- 2004), "singa kami walad tawen ya anganta"; The ordination of Rev. Fr. Rojohn Ramirez and Rev. Fr. Jeremias Cera where we sang accompanied by Maestro Renato Lucas of The Manila PhilHarmonic Orchestra with his cello; The Ordination of Rev. Fr. Quintans (2004) where Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz asked us to sing "The Prayer" after the Thanksgiving Prayer for the second time with a very touching thoughts about his favorite song; The San Jacinto Golden and Silver Wedding Anniversary last August 15, 2004 where all were mesmerized and almost everyone at the reception kept on saying that "singa ra walad tawen" kuno.
SPPPC also have its taste of "tampuhan" which is always resolved after sometime: Quesban tarays vs. the Lasip Ladies; Pedro P. and Joey C. and their "lakapan" after the winning the CSI Christmas Carol Singing Contest; The "bull sessions" at the Christ the King tambayan between Mike M. and SPPPC Boys regarding the choir jacket; Apot vs. Balong about the Choir T Shirt; Maan A. and Hazel G. confrontation about a choir issue (or was it a love triangle issue?); Open Forum during the Christmas Party which was supposed to be a reconciliation between Agnes P. and Hazel G. but we all went home "luhaan"; The "inuman" sessions which the boys do for "bonding" but sometimes end up with a misunderstanding (Sayong & Junsen during Pedro's Birthday celebration, Joel vs. Pedro, Ricky vs. Junsen & Pedro); Junsen vs. Joel about a text message;
Our constant togetherness through the years had made SPPPC our second family. In singing for the Lord, we have been brought closer to HIM thus, we intend to bring other people closer to HIM through our songs.
SPPPC is not a perfect group but its a group where you can be your best.
Some may come and go, but there will always be an area in their hearts, yearning to go back where they once belonged. SPPPC has been planted so deeply in each one's hearts and nurtured with special care from above. Life in SPPPC depends on HIM and through His help and guidance, SPPPC shall always be inseparable. The SPPPC may have its lowest times, but God's hand will always be there to hold them and lift them up again.
We live by the motto: IN EVERYTHING YOU DO......PUT GOD FIRST!
