The Search For Little Miss Calasiao 1995
After four years of co-sponsoring the Paligsahan sa Awit, the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Choir thought of changing the format of the show. Aware of the fact that Calasiao is teeming with talented and beautiful children, we decided to give them an opportunity to expose and develop their talents and potentials through the Search. Fortunately, the proposal including the budget was approved by our beloved Mayor Atty. Felipe "Celso" de Vera. Thus, on October 28, 1995, the first ever Search for Little Miss Calasiao was launched.
Organizing the show is no joke. Beating the deadline for the printing of this Souvenir Program, practices every Saturday and Sunday,, ." late night" stay-outs for the planning sessions and production works are only few of the tasks we have to accomplish. Thanks to the SPPPC members who have been cooperative and responsible. We also extend our sincerest gratitude to the Municipal Staff, headed of course by Mayor Felipe de Vera, Jr., who have been very supportive and accommodating.
As the Search *finally comes to an end, we as organizers, would like to share some insights we have learned from our young participants. It is interesting to note that children are gifted with simplicity and sincerity in heart. They are simple in the sense that they delight even in little things. Hand them a cup of icecream from the "Mamang Sorbetero", and nothing could hide the glow in their eyes as they shyly accept your offer with a smile. Who could have thought that they could appreciate a three pesos worth of icecream? They are the truest being, in the sense that they really show what they feel, without reservations.
If they like you, they recognize your presence, if they don't, ask them why and they'll never hesitate to tell you
the reason. Children have no pretensions, they wear no masks.
In one of our serious discussions, somebody opened up why we grown-ups cannot retain the characteristics of being true and simple, just like when we were children. As we grow older, we also out grow these positive characteristics, but retain those negative characteristics of a child like his tendency to be selfish and self-centered. This is also the reason why we hear comments as "Ayan childish ka na naman". Indeed there is a big difference in being childish and being childlike, the latter possessing the positive characteristics of a child. We have resolved other people, we
wish but rather strive to be childlike then that in our dealings with should minimize being child
In parting, may we address these beautiful words to the parents, quoted from one of our judges, Engr. MCM....
"We as parents think our children are the best, the CHAMPIONS. In little endeavors like this, we as parents are the ones who encourage our children to join. But it is our resp onsibility to make them understand, that if they join a contest, they could WIN or LOSE. Let these experiences develop values in the minds of our children. If they win, they must be HUMBLE in their victory. If they lose, they must be prepared to accept failures. If our children win, we could share their victory. But if they lose, well, we could cushion the blow. Win or lose then, your daughter did something you should be proud of. After all she has been a
production of the first "Search for Little Miss Calasiao '95".
