| Peter Pan - My Personal Response After seeing the trailers and various pictures on the internet I was really looking forward to this film. I'd read the book and loved it, so I was really hoping the film would be true to the book. When I saw the film, I was really pleased that it had kept the mood of the book. It made me laugh out loud, but also cry (a lot). The visuals I think were brilliant - like when they are flying to neverland or re-enacting the fairy dance. You just can't take your eyes off the screen because it's so beautiful to look at. The acting was also great. Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd Wood had some intense onscreen chemistry going on as Peter and Wendy. Though this may not have been in the book, I think it was essential to the movie because otherwise the 'romance' would have just looked half done. I'd recommend this film to anyone. It is not a childrens story, even though Disney or Spielburg would have you think otherwise. It is suitable for children, but has undertones that are somewhat oedipal or freudian. I loved the film as I also never want to grow up so I feel I can relate to Peter in a way and was mentally shouting at Wendy not to leave Neverland, wondering why she would choose to grow up over being young forever.
