“Remembering the sacrifice of Armed Forces.

Purva Sainik Sewa Parishad, J&K was informed that IDRF, USA and Sewa International have earmarked an amount of Rs. Three lac twenty five thousand only (Rs. 3,25,000/=) to the distributed among victims of insurgency, victims of Cross border firing and Kargil and other wars who have become disabled due to loss of limbs or loss of eye sight or spinal injury or hearing, making them unable to earn their livelihood. PSSP, approached concerned authorities like the Director, Sainik Welfare J&K, Dy. Commissioner and Paramilitary forces to obtain their names. Physical verification was conducted of all disabled personnel of Jammu district only to prepare list of all disabled personnel depending upon their severity of physical disability to extend monetary help in graded manner plus honour their contribution to National cause with presentation of shawl and Certificate of Merit mentioning their specific contribution. It was decided to have this function in a befitting manner at Shauriya Prashikshan Kendra, Purkhoo, Jammu run by Sena Sahyog Sangathan

Air Marshal R.C. Bajpai, PVSM, AVSM, representative of Sewa International India Chapter, Delhi, was the Chief Guest at Ved Mandir Bal Niketan, Jammu and disabled personnel Honouring function at Purkhoo on 17.8.2000 and 18.8.2000 respectively.

All disabled personnel who were honoured on 18th August 2000 were escorted to function site in vehicles arranged – kind courtesy Sewa International or Army Welfare Directorate with their family members, honoured with Shawls or Certificate of Merit or Monetary Aid in graded manner amounting to Rs. Three lac twenty five thousand only (Rs. 3,25,000/=) which was distributed by Chief Guest Air Marshal R.C. Bajpai, Brigadier Suchet Singh, Director Sainik Welfare J&K who presided over the function, and Ex-DIG Sh. Ramesh Kaul, Advisor Sena Sahayog Sangathan. Thus a total of 53 disabled personnel who fought for the nation were honoured and served lunch and honourably seen off to their respective residences in provided transport. The function was well covered both by Press and Electronic media.

The function has been highly appreciated by honoured personnel and their families who became emotional on the fact of recognition bestowed on them after such a delayed period by IDRF, USA and Sewa International and implemented through Sena Sahyog Sangathan, Jammu. Honouring of Disabled War Soldiers.

1. A function was organised on 18 August 2000 by Sena Sahyog Sangathan at Purkhoo, Jammu to honour the disabled Ex-servicemen, Police personnel and civilians disabled due to Militancy as well as enemy shelling in Border areas. Disabled personnel were given relief from Rs. 5,000/= to Rs. 15,000/= each case including Shawls Momentos and appreciations certificates.

2. On behalf of all Ex-servicemen, Sainik Welfare Department, Sainik Welfare Department, Jammu thanks Col. Uttam Singh, the General Secretary and his team for their commendable efforts and sincere hope that such function shall be organised in other areas of Distt. Jammu also.
