Seamless Trivia!!
1)  Why is the movie called Seamless?

Each character in the movie had their own "color".  The different threads within the weaving loom (shown throughout the movie) depicts the ensemble of characters in the movie.  And they come together in one beautiful mosaic of color; "a seamless article of color", as stated by the director.  In addition, the garment being woven is warm and can be wraped around you, just as a family can be.

Nicole -- amber
J.B.    --  blue
Zinc   --  green
GiGi   --  pink

2)  Surprise appearance of Kentaro Seagal

This really surprised me.  In the first rave scene, they are having a fashion show.  And Kentaro is actually within it.  At first what you see in the movie is that J.B. is DJ'ing in the background.  But as you hear his voice, notice the man with the flowered pants and the yellow shirt up on the fashion show platform -- it is Kentaro Seagal!   He is also in the "some others in the Seamless cast" picture that is on the
previous page.

3)  Director's opinion of Kentaro Seagal

Debra LeMattre said Kentaro had "great presence".  He was used to being in front of the camera due to his modeling experience.  She said that Kentaro wanted to do this movie because it gave him an opportunity to express himself, and he wanted to explore the depth of the J.B. character.

4)  Shannon Elizabeth

Kentaro and Shannon worked together previously because they had the same acting coach.  It was actually Kentaro that introducted Shannon to the production staff.  The director stated that "the chemistry between Kentaro and Shannon was golden."

5)  What really was amber?

In the cave scene, the amber was really honey.  In the scene where Nicole is making jewelry from it, they used Neutrogena soap!!

6)  Kentaro driving in the movie

The director said, "Kentaro can't drive stick shift, so they had to push him."  He seemed to do fine to me, though!

7)  Where was this filmed?

All of the street scenes were near Melrose Ave.  Downstream was actually an indoor spaceship set with no windows.  The stairwell leading down to Downstream was not really what it seemed.  It was an under-the-road walkway.

Nicole's apartment was actually a run down (empty) house used for filming various movies.  This same house was used (the basement) for the drug/orgy scenes with Gigi and the "thugs".

Sun Valley was used to show Howard's place, J.B.'s trailer, and the junkyard.

8)  About the costuming

Costuming was a big part of the movie.  The Japanese sponsor of this movie happened to be really interested in American vintage clothing.  Hence the whole scene about the Levi's jeans, which apparently will go for up to $20,000 in Japan.  But more strangely, halfway through the filming of the movie, this same Japanese sponsor got into the business of selling Hawaiian shirts.  And that is why the AirExpress employees were wearing them halfway through the movie.

9)  The "evil amber"

This green substance was first shown in powder form, and it was actually green jello!  The final products were really beads, and the actors had to spit them out of their mouths once the cameras stopped.

10)  Fight scene with Zinc and J.B. in Downstream

Apparently, Zinc really did get a little injured after he was thrown to the ground.  You go, Kentaro!

11)  Griffith Observatory

This is where the cameras were to show those beautiful night-time scenes of L.A.

12)  Producers wanted a rape scene!

This really surprised me, too.  The producers wanted to show a rape scene in the basement where Gigi was.  (Originally, they wanted Raven to be raped, though).  But the director didn't want it to come off as blatently violent, so she toned it down and had both a woman and man in the bed with Gigi.
