"Healing"

I'm not giving up...I will not give in,
I'm going to fight, and this time I will win.
I must succeed, though I failed before,
I've lost a few battles, but won't lose this war.

The sadness I felt is part of my past,
It's only my mind that keeps making them last.
All those thoughts, I let myself think,
Has just kept my present, all out of sync.

I won't let them win, I will not allow.
What was over long ago to keep hurting me now.
Abusers forget, for they have moved on,
Just hurting myself, with what's already been done.

It's time to let go and relearn how to live,
It's time I release what was done and forgive.
My anger and hatred doesn't hurt them a minute,
But it swallows like quicksand, and I'm living in it.

Who am I hurting but myself without healing ?
It's dead and gone, must relinquish all dark feeling.
The memories will die if they're no longer fed,
Then hopefully the anguish of it all will be dead.

I'll make a new start and feel that sweet peace,
I need to forgive so the horrors will cease.
I'll live for today and look forward to tomorrow,
Fulfilling my dreams and abandoning the sorrow.

Victory will be finding and regaining my life,
Releasing all demons, heartache and strife.
I pledge to myself, and this promise I'll keep,
Live my life to the fullest...and no more will I weep.

We've hit a few speed bumps in life, you and I. We might even say we've had our share. You ask me how to make it through another day. Well dear friend, it isn't always easy, but I believe that peace and peace of mind are gifts we give ourselves. Success in living each day and enjoying the good times is our reward, and in that, it serves to prove, that those who hurt you can never win. They'll never win, because they will never share in your happiness. You're a jewel in my life's crown Chelsea.
