| How do you join the Chapter? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| First things first.......come to one of our meetings! Say hello to everyone and make sure you want to join the group. At the meeting please ask to be placed on the e-mail list for the meeting minutes so you know where and when the upcoming rides are. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What if I cannot make the meetings on Thursday nights? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Give us a call or e-mail us so we can so we can discuss it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Is that all it takes to join the Chapter? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Life is never that easy! First, we would like to to attend a few meetings and go on a couple of rides with us. We want to get to know you and we also want to make sure you can ride in a group setting. During this time we would ask you to look at the Star Touring and Riding web site as you must join this in order to be considered for Chapter membership. The Chapter will then conduct a vote regarding your pending membership. Please note that there is no hazing involved. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Why should I join Star Toring and Riding? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| First to become a member of this riding group you have to as we are Chartered through them. Second it is a great countrywide organization. A lot of Yamaha dealers across the country will provide you with discounts because you are part of the group. Star Touring and Riding has also worked out other discounts from hotels to insurance. Please go to their web site at www.startouring.org to see about their current member benefits. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| What if I do not not own a Yamaha, can I still join? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We could place a whole bunch of jokes here but the truth of the matter is only about 1/2 of the Chapter owns a Yamaha! So bring what you got, unless of course its a moped. If it's a moped you can stop reading right about now and here is a link to our sponsor (Alpha) so you can buy a real motorcycle. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have never ridden in a group before, is it hard? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It is different then riding alone and there is a certain amount of trust that you have to place on your fellow riders. We typically have a Road Captain who takes the lead on the rides. We would also have a Tail Gunner who makes sure that the group stays together and there are not any issues. We ask new riders with our group (regardless of the numbers of years claimed to be under their belt) to ride towards the front of the group behind the Road Captain. We want to make sure the riding skills are adequate for group riding as we all want to be safe. We are happy to help you out if you are not familiar with group riding. A few other items; we typically ride in a staggered formation as it is the safest and we all pass down signals to the riders behind us as we do not want surprises for those behind us. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
