Rising out of the Eye
A new birth for a trusty RL
As you know, I have been away from this page for the last few years, (wow, I can't believe it's been 3 years) and unfortuintly, I have been away from riding my trials bikes for a good bit of that time as well.
As you saw on the home page, two years ago, I showed up at a AHRMA National and saw 5 other White Suzuki RL250's.  While I understood that a lot of people liked the white paint, I didn't want mine to look like any other RL, and changed the colors to Red and Black.
Starting on this page, I will take you through the rebirth of the RL as it gets stripped down to the bare frame, and redone to prepare for a new season.  I am not going to make any major changes, but it has been 6 years since the RL was restored, and after 3+ years of competition, it's time to do a major cleaning and make sure everything is cleaned, lubed and tightened to the proper specs.  And while it's down, what better time for a new paint job on the frame.
I was thinking of having the frame Nickle Plated, but after bringing it to Mobile and getting  a quote on the cost of nickle plate, I decided to just strip and repaint the frame and swing arm.
I will also show you some of the modifiacations that have been made recently, and how they worked out.
Well,  sit back and enjoy the ride out of the Eye.

Six years ago we started with this....
Went to this......phase one
Then to this..........phase II
And finially to this, as the RL currently sits.
This is the new frame up paint job to complete the change from white/silver, to Black and Red.
With a little luck, both this site and the RL will be up and competeing real soon
I have also recently picked up a 01 Sherco 290 to play in the yard on, and hopefully attend some more modern trials events over the next several months. It has been 18 months since I last competed in AHRMA due to both work load in my day job, and the numerous storms that hit here in Orange Beach in 05. I will be adding more about the Sherco, and up it's grades as I go.  The 1st new page shows the tear down and repainting of the Suzuki. It's not the best paint job in the world, but this is a compitition bike, not a show bike so I am more than pleased with the results. I hope you like it as well.
