Kristin started working with the dental team in Sierra Leone teaching hundreds of children dental health in local schools.  Then in Benin and Liberia, she helped continue a teacher training program started just the previous year that trains and provides local teachers with new teaching techniques.  Trying to break the common emphasis on just pure memorization, she and her team showed teachers how to utilize easily obtained, everday items as teaching aids.  Kristin and Keith welcome their third child to their family in April of 2005, and Kristin stayed at home with Samuel full time until last year when he started preschool.   Since, she has helped part time on the ship as a Chaplain's assistant and now as assistant to the director of the Africa Mercy's Mental Health Program.  This much needed program trains local health care workers and pastors how to properly identify mental health and plug the person in to the appropriate long term care center.  It also establishes programs for addiction, something unheard of but extremely necessary in a country such as this.
