I am also asking the Lord to bless you and keep thee. The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee. the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace. AMEN
Thank you God for filling a lost part of my life!
Yesterday May 17,2000 I received an Email from a fellow Marine who I had served with on a FO team with A Batty 1/12 outside of Danang. For all these years I could not remember names and even my time lines. When I received an Email from him. I put a face to the name right away. I know that may sound funny to some, but for so long I have lived with the feelings that I just forgot them and it hurt. I thank God for his help as I get to know my fellow Combat Marine. We have so many things to remember together good and BAD. I never gave up trying. I can not put into words how I feel right now, but great comes close.

" FROM THE CHOSIN RESERVOIR, TO A PAUPERS GRAVE"
Today I helped lay to rest a Chosin Reservoir Marine who ended up in a paupers grave twenty years ago, a long way from his home. It all started when I was asked to come to a service for a fellow Marine who was being laid to rest. They wanted a Marine to do it.      As I arrived early at the cemetery I noticed a small aluminum box about four feet long and 18" wide. I had never seen that before, so as I got closer I read the govermment marker. It was already dated and as I read the dates it read he had passed away October 26,1980 almost 20 years ago! The service was short with the proper rifle salute and taps. As I presented his mom with the Flag it hit me pretty hard while I was trying to get out the words a grateful nation. I stoped and held his moms hand as I told her I take all Veteran deaths hard and completed the service.      As they left for home I had to fill in a few missing answers. I found out he was a drifter and had lost contact with his family. When he passed away so long ago, little or no efford was made to get him home or let his family know. I know it's not always that easy to do. I do not understand how our country could send him to combat in Korea in a short time, but make little or not enough efford of all those involved to lay to rest a Marine Combat Veteran who did so much for his country. May you rest in peace( what we fought for ) in your hometown near your family.
"No WAR is MEANLESS TO THOSE WHO WERE IN IT!"
I am the first person who hates War, but those who did not attend one are always the ones who have the most to say about it. As I have stated before it's the ones on top who start them and it's the ones like myself who end them the best we're allowed to by those on the top again! I feel sorry for anyone who has gone to WAR and returned to have to put up with the untested who make the most noise. it also amazes me on how some services offer Lets make a deal just to get some to join. I remember when they were called on to go to a place where they would have to earn all that college money they are offered all they did is complain. I would not like to fight with them on my side. They whined about having to earn that money, What a concept! Forgive my comments it's just my current mood. I know that's what freedom is all about and they have a right to say what they please. So I have said mine. Chaplain Flexer
"THE QUIET HERO"
Today I will bury a friend who was what I call a quiet Hero. As a Veterans Chaplain I read the Obits every morning. When I started I was shocked to say the least by seeing his name there. So the first thing that entered my mind was to walk down and comfort his wife, as I knew how I was feeling. So I got dressed and walk down there and as I stepped on the back porch I started to cry like Niagara Falls.  When Barbara greeted me I was a basket case. We hugged each other and sat and talked. When I later returned home I was sitting and thinking about men like Bill. They go through life always helping others and just being a great friend, neighbor and citizen. What I call the quiet hero. I remember the last few Christmases calling him to ask him to take me to pick a Christmas Tree,as they are hard to carry home on a motorcycle. He was my hero in that and many other ways to many others. Bill was that way always willing to help anyone who asked with nothing but a smile. He never asked for anything in return, just knowing he help somebody was his reward. I know God has him now so he can give him the rewards we never could. God bless you Bill. I was glad and honored to have known you.       Dedicated to William M. Cry Sr. July 10, 2000
