| It amazes me how those who say "put Vietnam behind you" never had it in front of them. When I went to Vietnam it was for all the right reasons like being part of the price some pay for our freedom or you went because others went before you for our country. | ||||||||||||
| I went in 1965 when it was not called a tour of duty and before it became what I call a War within a War. Our own country let us down even though we did not know it at the time. Hind sight is always 20/20 knowing now and seeing how our country let us down during and after it does not make a difference to me. | ||||||||||||
| Vietnam is my Hell and every day I'm reminded by little things like the sound of a Huey chopper or gun fire. I hate getting wet because in Vietnam I was wet for weeks on end and no way to get dry. I go to sleep trying to think of the good things that I have now, but end up in what I call a Nam-mare. I find myself asking why did I make it back when so many others did not? I decided to write this when I saw the movie title "To Hell and Back" to this Vietnam war Veteran I feel as I may never get back. | ||||||||||||
