VIETNAM VETERAN FOGOTTEN THEN,
FORGOTTEN NOW. When I came back from Vietnam very few cared, now 30 years later I see not much has changed. On Aug.16th I had a dedication of a flagstaff & plaque to honor my fellow Vietnam War Veterans. Very few showed up in fact less than ten. I want to thank those who cared to take the time to share my dedication with me. I know that not everyone could who wanted to, I understand that. I also want to let all those who know me and what I stand for and do in this community that could have shown up that you hurt me!
I've worked very hard at trying to overcome the horrors of Vietnam. I try also not to be bitter about how the public treated us when we returned. Back then I was so glad just to have gotten back alive. So I did not think or care about the way I was treated, but now it hurts even more! I know I will go on helping and caring for others I know GOD was with me in Vietnam and HE is with me now!
Again I want to thank everyone who helped me make the dedication possible and those who showed up to share it with me!!
