A Note on Plagiarism

Miriam-Webster Online defines plagiarize as:

"
transitive senses : to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source
intransitive senses : to commit literary theft : present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source"

I realize that with the wide availablity of the internet that people can take information and pass it off as their own. Not only is it illegal, it is morally wrong to do so. I put this note here mostly for the benifit of students who might feel it's all right for them to use my work for homework assignments and get credit for it as their own. News flash for all students: Teachers use the web too, and they can find the same sites you do. Save yourself some trouble, and just do your own work the first time. Who knows, you might be the next Stephen King if you develop your own writing talents. ;)
