History:
Fiona was one of the best candidates for the position of preistess of light from her whole villiage, and being as such she was taken from the age of 10 to train with the priestesses of the temple of light. There she learned to use light magic and at the age of 15 was allowed to learn to defend the temple from any demons with a katana. By the age of 20 she was allowed to become a full priestess, andhad to wear the robes of the priestess. The robes were made of the finest silk and were flowing but Fiona didn't like that. They got in the way when she tried to fight so she would wear regular clothes under the robe and when there would be an attack she would just drop the robes and charge into the middle of the battle. This type of behavior worried her supperiors, not to mention those that were assinged to wash the dirty robes. One of hers would be in there atleast once a week when the others took such care that only once a month would the robe require washing. The only thing that kept her supperiors from forcing her out of the service was her growing ability to slay the constant attackers that wanted to defile the temple. She got so good that she would secretly use an ability that she developped to call all manner of demons to the temple and would fight them with joy, slaying each one. Once the other preistesses found out about this and told their supperiors, the supperiors knew it was their job to have the growing threat of demons removed. Their solution... Fiona was banned from the temple and word was spread to other temples that might have been willing to recruit her. She didn't care, just the problem of money would soon come, but it hadn't come soon enough. While aimlessly traveling through the villages she would go a little ways out from the village and call demons who would attack as soon as they came and she would slay them with ease. After one of these battles she noticed that she was being watched by someone. Using her magic to shine a harmless light Fiona descovered that the person was in each village that she visited and, most likely, had seen what she was capable of. She was correct. The person told her that he knew a way for Fiona to be able to travel to villiages that were never even heard of and battle demons that would be much more of a challenge than any that she faced before. Not having anything to really loose Fiona accepted the offer of being able to fight stronger demons. So in the morning she and the stranger had bought two horses from the stable and rode. In the first ten minutes nothing special seemd to be happening and Fiona was quickly getting bored and looking arround did nothing to entertain her. When she was about to call for a simple demon the stranger stopped her and told her to look carefully at the forest that they were in. She took another glance and noticed that two things had happened, the forest was denser and the leaves of the trees had a strange diamond shape that she couldn't recognize as any tree that she had ever seen. Also the sun was in the wrong place when they left the villiage the sun was directly overhead, now it was in the east.

As Fiona took all of this in there was another surprise, as they rounded a corner the forest completely thinned out and as she looked back there was hardly any of the thick jungle that they were passing through. Even stranger was the sky, it had turned a crimson red while the sun was getting further to the East.

As if he read her mind the stranger assured her that there was no problem with her eyes or her sanity, they were just taking a trip to give her this very same power, the power to travel through shadow. He wouldn't say any more than that except for when it was time to get new horses, he found a decent ranch that would take them, it also had some strange metal things that looked like carts only they had four wheels and no attachments for any animals to pull it, and on inspection of one of these metalinc carts the stranger told her that they were taking one of them. Aparantely they were called cars and needed just a simple key to make them rumble like demons, but they had an advantage over horses, they never got tired. Getting in Fiona found that her sword was not a very comfortable the way she had it on. Taking it off of the belt loop, still sheathed, she got in the car and they drove off leaving the horses and the stables far behind as the sky changed back to a brilliant saphire blue and the sun was at midday once more, no people were in sight for miles and the only thing arround them was a vast desert. as she turned to look there was nothing there, no stables no forest... nothing but a road in the middle of a desert.

Fiona decided to question the person, only getting a response that they will be there soon and something about having the "right sky" for their place. The landscape soon flowed to a field of corn and then to a grassy plain when and there was a giant castle, as well as a large city arround it. They stopped in the city, ignoring the looks from the people that would note only Fiona's strange dresscode and her katana that was back on the belt loop where it hung originally.

"Before you go any further, you should have that blade fixed and get a few new weapons." That was the only advice that the stranger gave to her before letting her explore the town and telling her to meet at the castle gates in an hour, then he left allowing her to explore the city. Taking his advice she found a weapons dealer and found that he spoke her language. Telling him that she needed her sword adjusted, not knowing how he would go about it, and that she needed more weapons. His response to her request was only to ask how she wanted it to be changed. After thinking about it she said that she needed it to be faster, as fast as the swiftest demon alive. "Very well." was all that he said before he started heating the blade and took out a small pen-like chisel. As soon as he thought the blade was hot enough he started inscribing runes into the metal. With each completed rune the blade took on a certain glow, and once one side was finished he let the blade cool, and set it to heat once moore inscribing a different set on the other side. once the blade cooled he told her that that would be the fastest blade in all the world. As for the other weapons he showed her display cases of various daggers, swords and bows. she chose one that was on a strange contraption. The bladesmith called it a sleeve knife. It was more like a short sword and fit perfectly on her arm. The Bladeshith explained that it was made so that when she tensed her arm more than usual the blade would come out, only after the sleeve part has been calibrated. and he showed her how to use it. she bought the launch and the dagger allong with it, noticing the strange markings on the blade, which was in a diamond form, learning that they made sure the blade had power, along with the owner. As long as the owner was in contact with the blade he or she would have a higher spiritual power and more physical strength than most of the people about him/her.
The next weapon that appealed to her was a pair of boots, the right  one having a pocket for a blade and the blade to fit it was a little bit shorter than the sleeve blade but the same design, although the runes were different. That blade blessed the owner and the blade, excelent for demon-slaying. She baought the blade and traded her boots for the new ones.
The last weapon that really entertained her was a crossbow that fir into a special pocket on a pair of jeans. The cross bar folded and sprang open when the weapon was taken out, the bolts for it were in the same pocket but in a different section to protect the wearer from hurting themselves if they were to fall on that side. Conviniently, the pocket was at the perfect height for her so she just bought the Crosbow and bolts, going in a back room and changing, letting the storekeeper have her pants in exchange for the ones designed for the weapon. The bow was, unsurprisingly, aloso enchanted with a set of runes to ensure accuracy.

After this little shopping spree Fiona went to the castle gate to meet the stranger that brought her to this town. He led her through the castle, not seeming to notice the new weapons that she had. They went down a staircase that seemed to wind for eternity and then they reached the floor. A coridor extended and it seemed to be a dungeon of some sort. At the seventh door on the left they stopped and the stranger lifted a key from the peg set in the wall, through the door there was a large room. The strange thing was, there seemed to be no heat even though there was, what seemed to be a giant maze, like the ones you would follow through with a pen on paper, but the reason there was a little bit of shock was that certain parts of it swere on fire, flames were dancing in gaps that were obviously not to be used.
The man explained to her that this was one of the broken patterns and not the real thing and that she had to walk the thing to it's center without straying from the path or stopping, because either action would kill her. He also explained that she didn't need to fear the sparks that would rise nor the light headed feeling that might occur a bit of the ways through. The hardest part would be the end, if she made it that far.
He led her to the edge and allowed her to start. As soon as she set her right foot on the pattern a current that felt a bit like electricity started running through her. She continued. A few twists and turns and she was feeling a light haze settle over her but she continued wlking. Memories flooded to her, the first demon that she killed, she was a bit nervous when it arived, full of claws and teeth and a body that was obviously built to squirm through the smallest corners, but with encouragement she worked up the nerve to dismember it instead of running. Another step and she reached a large arch in the pattern. The sparks rose to her ankles and she kept going.the Current increased and she saw herself, when she learned to call demons. She wished that something would happen on that summer night and wanted a demon to come to attack her. Just then a horseman appeared, sword ready to kill and his eyes glowing red. He charged and she ducked letting her sword out and slashing the horse's side into a bloody mess while the demon lost his balance and fell, there she delivered the finishing blow decapitating the posessed soldier allowing his spirit to rest as she prayed for him to have a safe journey. When the memory ended she realized that she was already half way finished with the maze, leaving the Arch behind her. The sparks were already up to her waist and she saw that there was another large arch ahead. she braved it, feeling like she was being ingrained into the universe and that the universe was pouring all that it had into her. She continued at a steady pace wondering what this would do for her. She saw the answer. Her memory turned to the stranger and how he was able to take her through a desert and how the sun had jumped arround from one time to another. That's what it would allow her to do. To walk the shadows that were cast across existance from this very spot.
she finished the shecond arch and another set of ninety-degree turns came and went. She was now at the final arch. The sparks at her shoulders and the feeling of a light resistance under her feet. With each step more resistance until she was at the very end and there were only three more steps to the end of the maze. Those three steps were the hardest of all. The first felt like she had to walk through a tree, she succeeded. The second like a sheet of ice, and the third and final step was a wall of cement.
She stumbled into the center and colapsed from exaustion. She knew that she could now go anywhere she wanted. Any place she desired she could be at, but she just wanted to lay there and enjoy the silence.
When she recovered some of her strength she stood and wanting to find a place that had cars and plenty of food and a place ot rest she willed herself to be there, forgetting all about the man that had waited to see what happened to her.
She transported herself to the remains of the City of Milain.
