Remember Love, Not Pain

How swift the summer days did pass,
And swift my Love was gone,
Down well remembered dim-lit paths,
In the cold gray light of dawn.

He turned, not once, to show his face
But stayed right to his track.
And I, for love and loneliness,
Dared not to call him back.

If Love would not turn his feet
Nor laughter stay his step
Then best he just continue on,
For ne'er would he be kept.

With fading light and fading heart
My love went ever on
Fading from my dimming sight
And finally was gone.

A single tear released my grief
And trailed down with it's stain.
Remember love, Remember love
Remember love not pain.

Staggered steps down staggered steps
I'm standing at my door.
I close and lock the outside out
And stand inside once more.
