Heart, bound with iron and locked in with frost
Feeling and caring brought too high a cost
So banished they were, to a far distant place
And life continued at a slow solemn pace.
But then came the knocking with voice and with fist
To unbind the iron and banish the mist
Like a specter that slipped through the chinks in the wall
The Dream became substance and caused it to fall.
The Heart, first was wary, and frightened to feel
But the Dream's whispered music showed it was real.
The Heart moved forward, then dodged to retreat
And times beyond measure, Dream tasted defeat.
The Dream never faltered, but remained strong and true
'Til the Heart's defense softened and warmth shone anew
And, as soft tender grasses sprout from the snow,
Love grew up and blossomed in that wonderful glow.
The Heart and the Dream, now together at last,
Moved off in tandem, in love and joined fast.
Away from rememberance of sadness and sorrows
Toward the bright glowing warmth of endless tomorrows.
