Camelot
REMEMBERANCE OF CAMELOT

There was a golden time, where silver clad Knights defended the honor and laws of their noble King. The gallant Knights fought bravely, giving blood, sweat and tears to the one man, one King, they had pledged their lives to.

Yes, these were the Knights of the Round, dedicated, honorable, faithful, all in the name of justice and freedom, all in the name of King Arthur.

It was a wondrous time, filled with beautiful maidens wearing flowing pink dresses. Their coy smiles and batting eyelashes captured the hearts of many of chivalrous knight.

It was a time of peace and tranquillity, of happiness and security, of friendship and love.

It was the time of Camelot.

Can you not see the King and Queen standing side by side, hand in hand on the Grand Balcony of their beloved Castle? Watching out over a sparkling sea of silver, as if a thousand twinkling stars had fallen from the night sky and blanketed the darkened land before them.

Can you see the silver armored men all lined up in a row, mounted proudly upon their dark steeds, saluting their beloved Arthur and Guinevere, as they prepare to ride out two by two and sacrifice their lives once more for Truth, Justice, Honor, Loyalty and Ever Faithfulness.

Can you see the innocent faces of these, strong, virile men who may soon be forfeiting their lives for one land, one castle, one King. Can you see the fearful tears that sting the porcelain white cheeks of the damsels, as they watch their courageous Knights ride off and disappear, under a cloak of darkness, possibly never to return home again.

Can you picture it? Can you hear it? Hear the silver armor, clink and rattle, as the horses prance off with a noble gait toward the uncertainty that awaits them all.

Can you hear the war cries, steel clashing against steel and then the blood curdling screams of dying men shatter the silence of the cold, dark, night.

Listen carefully......Now can you hear the thunderous gallop of horses and the joyous cries of victory, as the valiant knights rush back exclaiming with triumphant shouts, that they had defeated their enemy and once again restored peace to the legendary land, the land known as Camelot.

I can.

I can because I was there. I was there when the Castle was built. I was there for every bloody battle fought and I was there when the legend came to a sudden crashing halt.

I am still there...
and in my heart, in my soul, I know apart of me will forever remain, at Camelot.
