Kreviazuk joins Hip at benefit show

Singer Chantal Kreviazuk will join The Tragically Hip at next month's giant outdoor concert in Winnipeg to benefit the children's charity War Child.

Kreviazuk's label Sony Music Canada confirmed the Winnipeg-born singer will perform with a full-band on a free concert bill that is headlined by The Hip. Aside from her performance at this year's Juno Awards, it will be Kreviazuk's first show backed by a band, Sony said.

The concert takes place Sept. 16 at Winnipeg's historic junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, an area known as The Forks.

The concert is to coincide with the International Conference on War-Affected Children, which is being held in Winnipeg from Sept. 10-17.
