My Chantal Stories:
~June 2001~
I first met with Chantal June 2001 on the day of the concert here in Toronto at Massey Hall.  She was doing a Meet & Greet (cause she is so cool).  Anywho...it was the day after my Formal (ie. prom) so I was still very tired, but I got up and went to Eaton's Centre anyways...of course (yeah right, like I would give up a chance to meet with her).  I was so nervious when it was my turn to go next...standing there, behind the security guy knowing that I was next was so scary-I had no clue what I was going to say to her.  When I stepped up to her, she reached out and shook my hand-she was so cool, we talked about nail bitting, because when I had handed her my copy of Colour Moving & Still to sign she had noticed that I bite my nails.  She said she did it to, and we agreed that at the end of movies, our nails were well bitten off because of the nerviousness.   That night was the concert-I was soooo beyond pumped, I had 4th row seats and had also won a couple of tickets in the 12th row which I gave to my friends.  So there I was, sitting in Massey Hall, 4th row, waiting for Chantal to perform.  Jordan was the opening set-she was sooo cool.  She's French Canadian and she plays the cello and sings.  I have never seen anyone take there instrument to different kind of levels like she did.  She used it as a drum, and like a guitar, and like a cello, she was really good, I would go see her play if she came back to Toronto.  Then during the brake-Raine Maida (lead singer of Our Lady Peace, and Chantal Kreviazuk's husband) came out one door, walked up the aile -- it was cool to see him there supporting her :)  Aww...ok, back to the story.  It was amazing, I used to have a copy of the set list, when I find it, i'll for sure post it up.  She played a lot of cool songs, and new ones too.  I was sitting just in front of some girls who requested her to sing Green Apples-and she did (even though it's not one of her favorites).  After she came back out for the encore she seemed more relaxed-and the audience was warmed up for some more cheering.  After the last song of the encore, I stood up so fast (maybe even the first), maybe even the first person to stand, because for some reason I had caught Chantal's attention, and she pointed to me (you know the whole 'hey hey' *gun shot point* thing!)  Boy that made the concert a night I would never forget.
~November 2001~
At the beginning of October, I was doing my daily routine of checking the Chantal Official Webpage (www.chantalkreviazuk.com) and I always look at the News/Tour section, and that day I checked, there was a TOUR LISTING!! I was so happy, I was going to be able to see Chantal Kreviazuk perform again! So I called up Oakville and asked about prices, etc.  And the cool thing was it was two days before my 19th birthday-what a great birthday present to myself :)  I met up with Lisa-one of my friends from Elements, and we enjoyed the show so much.  I had 2nd row seats, the hall was more of a lecture hall, very small and intimate (how cool!).  The concert was awesome-it was just Chantal and her piano, she did a song acapella too-Blue, it was so intense-and major cool.  Lisa got in a request "GI JOE" a new song that she wrote (it will most likely be on her 3rd album).  After the concert, Lisa and I had planned on meeting Chantal, and I guess we done a lot of positive thinking, because after the show, we waited by the stage door for about a half hour/forty five minutes, and she came out!! Man, it was a dream come true.  She signed the CD covers and tickets of others that were there...they seemed that they just wanted to meet her for her autograph though.  And the stupid Oakville Centre mis-spelled her name on the ticket "CHANTEL KREVIAZUK" it's CHANT~A~L!!  that's an A not an E!   Lisa got a big hug from her, and we told her how cool it was that she did this concert and it was so awesome.  I asked if she would mind posing for a picture with us
me : "I don't want to piss you off or anything, but do you think I could get a picture with you?"
chantal: "naw, you couldn't piss me off, ok."
how cool!! So I got to stand beside her, and the picture turned out great-when i get a scanner-i'll post it.
~December 2001~
I took my mom to see Chantal Kreviazuk for her birthday -- she was doing the Pamela Wallin Weekend at the Gravenhurst Opera House...another small, intamate venue.  It was an awesome (but a little short) set.  Chantal had the flu--poor Chantal :(  I requested GI JOE, but she didn't take the request--I guess she'll only sing it for Lisa :)  *jokes*
~Other~
I've seen Chantal 2 other times-once at the "Open Mike with Mike Bullard show" where she sang
Far Away and did a 15 minute interview!! It was awesome I had 1st row seats with my mom (hee hee).
I went to see her again when she appeared on Sonic Temple (with Carla Colins).  She did
Far Away and M, about 4 times each...so it could be just right :) No inteview-but if you watched there is this one thing that they did her and the "Song doctor" - it's pretty funny:)

Another Fan Story:
This story may not be interesting to anyone but I love it. It's how I  got  into Chantal. In November of 1996, when Tarzan Dan used to host The Hit List (before it got all tacky and poppy), he played the weekly GaGa segment (two or three videos by Canadian artists) and one of the ones he played was 'God Made Me'. I was instantly attracted to the song and the video. There was this amazing singer with a wonderful song and an inpronouncable last name. Over the next month, I heard it on the radio a few times and each time, I blasted the radio because I loved the song so much. This has never happened to me before for a new artist since at the time, I loved Alanis Morissette and No Doubt.I saw her CD in a Sam, The Record Man magazine (those ones you used to get for free) and wrote it down as the CD I wanted.I got 'Under These Rocks And Stones' in February. It was also the first time I ever took a chance on buying a CD based on only one song by someone I had never heard of before. I didn't have really high expectations for it and at first I only listened to tracks 1 and 2, 'God Made Me' and
'Surrounded'. I LOVED 'Surrounded'.After a few months with the release of 'Believer' and 'Wayne', I got into the first 6 tracks. However, it took me about 10 months to go beyond track 6. I decided to listen to the full CD again just to see what else was on it (I had only listened to it in full maybe 3 times before) and 'Hands' struck me as being the best song ever! A few weeks later, I heard 'Hands' on the radio. It was then, I knew I had a new favourite singer.I bought the Armageddon Soundtrack after I found out Chantal was on it and the Dawson's Creek Soundtrack when I heard about a new song. I LOVED
'Feels Like Home'. It made me shiver every time I listened to it. By this time, the anticipation of her second CD was HUGE. To make a long story a little longer, I have since bought two copies of
'Under These Rocks And Stones'. The original and the new version (same track listing), got her second CD with the bonus disc, got the three soundtracks she appears on, the Lilith Fair vol 3 disc (along with vols 1 and 2) and I saw her in concert once.I hope I don't come off as an obsessed fan because I don't stalk Chantal or plan on it! ;O) She's just a wonderful singer, writer and person!
