Monterey Bay glistens, beckoning us, as we drive down out of the hills toward her.
We left
Oakhurst on Friday in the A.M., turned right onto Highway 152, drove across the Central Valley through Gilroy and on to our destination, Santa Cruz.
Chanson du Coeur
We spent the night in the belly of Zazen - private moments and the boat ours alone!
No, there are no pictures
(save those in our heads!)
Saturday morning found the sea air in our lungs, and a clear day, ripe for a sail across the bay!
We met Eric and the other crew members and chose our lifevests from
Pacific Sailing's assortment.  All are 'up' for the day and ready to shove off!
Seal-watching as we motor into Monterey Harbor.

The chorus draws our attention (how could it NOT?) as they bark from the rocks of the breakwater.
Judith, Eric and Jordon watch the show, too,
from Zazen's cockpit.
Our trusty craft safely berthed in Monterey, we all go up to the Wharf to share in refreshment, repast and shop-browsing.

You and I spend the night at the Merritt House B&B not far from the marina...... MMMmmmm, love sleeping with you!
Heading us back to Monterey, I keep the monohull at a steady 8 knots - yes, a fine breeze to keep us moving!
Never happier - with you and sailing -
life doesn't get much better than this!
Two days of sailing, dinner with Eric and Sue done, we retire to our room at the Chateau Victorian in Santa Cruz.  The next day we walk the pier, talk with the seals under the timbers then head for home - one glorious weekend!
