Adult Rheumatoid Arthritis Database This database contains several measures of psychosocial and disease functioning along with physician ratings of disability, coping, etc, and data was collected in a longitudinal manner over a period of one year. As this database has served its original purpose, we are in the process of formulating a new data collection with adult rheumatoid arthritis patients. It is anticipated that some similar measures will be included in the new study, as well as other psychosocial measures such as written emotional expression. This data will also be collected in a longitudinal manner, and will likely involve multiple assessments over a period of several years so that a very clear picture of long-term adjustment in rheumatoid arthritis can be obtained. Asthma Database This database contains a number
of measures, and has been used for presentations and publications in the
recent past. In general, the focus of the studies is on the role of
cognitive appraisal mechanisms in determining psychological adjustment
in older adolescents and young adults with long-standing asthma. Example
measures include assessments of coping, asthma-specific quality of life,
depression, anxiety, attributional style, etc. We also have
physiological measurements of pulmonary function (i.e., peak expiratory
flow rate).
