Fall Away

by Karen Thirlwall

She's always sitting there
In her window chair
Pondering our existence
She often looks to me
To be what I can't be
Shakes her head at my resistance

She says
Don't fall away, don't fall away
Don't fall away from me now

Tried so many times
To read between the lines
Of all the glances that she throws my way
It makes me hesitate
And sometimes deviate
From the futures I see clear as day

And she says
Don't fall away, don't fall away
Don't fall away from me now

I can't rescue you if you won't hear me out
I can't rescue you if you won't fear my doubt
I can't rescue you if you won't look my way
Spend a lot of nights
Trying to make right
The issues I've created on my own
And the pressures take the power
From my sacred hours
Of building up the towers she knocks right down

And she says
Don't fall away, don't fall away
Don't fall away from me now

And she says
Don't fall away, don't fall away
Don't fall away from me now
