It is my firm belief that at least once in everyone's life, there is one brief, shining moment where everything centers around the life of another human being. Their smile, their words, their undying love and devotion.

For me, that shining moment was the day that I met Jim.

At a time in my life when my self esteem was lowest, when my heart was on a dusty shelf and my life was on a downward spiral, we met. Call it fate, call it chance ... call it wonderous. One dark night, one chance meeting, and a lifetime of love and friendship emerged. I can honestly say that he is my best friend, my confidante, the other half of my heart. While the love we share may not be conventional, it still runs deep in the way we care for each other, protect each other, and make sure the other is safe and secure.

Jim, you were there when the darkest moments of my life had me in their grasp, and yet you never strayed. You never faltered. You never even batted an eye. You didn't see me as a bent and broken soul with no chance of recovery ... you saw me as a hurting, aching woman who needed someone to believe in her. Thank God you did.

If you hadn't believed in me all this time, I shudder to think where I may be now. The simple sound of your voice can take me out of the dark hole of despair and show me that there is light at the end of the tunnel. At a time in my life when I didn't feel that I was worth anything, you showed me just how much I was worth, and then some. When I feel powerless and weak, you throw right back in my face just how strong I really am, even if I can't see it. Your gentleness, your strength, your devotion and your sweetness combine to make a wonderfully wonderful man. A man I love and adore and never want to lose.

You are my best friend. The only one who knows all my secrets, all my faults, all my insecurities ... and still loves me for it. Thank you for being in my life, for staying in my life. Many have taken one look into my soul and ran ... but not you, my Gentle Giant. You stayed. And there are no words in the world to express just how much I appreciate that.

A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart ... knowing that gentle hands will take it and sift it, and keep what is worth keeping. Thank you for taking the time. This page, and the courage that it took for me to make it, comes from you, is for you.
