| Most of our life, we end up forming opinions and passing judgment about others and sometimes even 'Label' them based on the hearsay or one sided statements or our own imaginations, without any attempt to know their version. And most of these times we are wrong and by the time we learn it, it is too late to recall our judgment or revert the damage it has done to the poor fellow who ends up bearing the brunt of the wrongs which he or she never did. All because we failed to cross check the hearsay / verify the facts while passing on one sided opinion, our judgment. I quote a narration by 'Phil Collins' in his track titled by the same name. In the middle of the night he could make out a young couple hiding in the shadows of the house. Curious, he went closer. Now he could hear the adults fighting inside the house. Male shouted, "You've been unfaithful". Female revolted, "My love for you has gone". And outside in the shadows, brother shrugged to his sister and said, "Looks like it's just us from now on". A half truth is much more dangerous and damaging than a half lie. Let's overcome this mean-ness and Let's not form an opinion, let's not label somebody, Let's not loose a friend, let's not make and enemy, Let's not pass on a judgment adding to someone's miseries, Not until, we have heard both sides of the Story. -- Chandra Shekhar Upadhyaya |
