Learn the Ancient Art of Bellydance
with renowned Teacher & Choreographer
Chandara Gamal
About Chandara Gamal
I began my study of Dance as a student of Hawaiian Hula and Tahitian dance, as my mother was a professional dancer in Waikiki during the 1950's.  Being from a military family, growing up with international music and dance was a natural part of my life.

I was first introduced to Greek "Bellydance" at a Restaurant in Bamberg, Germany in 1981 where I was instantly touched by not only the physical beauty of the dancer, but her graceful movements and the joy on her face as she danced.

I have been actively studying the ancient art of "Bellydance" since 1983 and have been a professional performer, teacher and seminar instructor since 1986.  I originally began teaching with
Aalim Dance Academy in St. Louis, Missouri, founded Raqs Al Dounya World Dance Ensemble, and later co-founded Desert Moon Dance Academy

I have performed in a variety of venues, including television, schools and universities, civic groups meetings, state, county and community fairs, festivals, parades, parties, restaurants, dance seminar concerts, and ethnic nightclubs in 10 states.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio in 2002, I have continued to share my love of this beautiful art form through my classes at Gentle Wind Center for Conscious Living in Gahanna, Ohio, and through the
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
