| Carol Poppinga Co-Commander Carol Poppinga is a mother of three adult children. She lives on a farm and works as a certified public accountant. Club year 2001-2002 will be Carol's ninth year in AWANA at First Baptist in Chancellor, SD. She has been a Chums leader for eight of those years and this year she is serving as co-commander and Guards leader for fifth and sixth grade girls. Carol says, "I love working with kids at AWANA, and seeing them grow in the Lord." AWANA is based on the Bible, and gives kids an understanding of the Gospel and a strong foundation to build upon. Through some of her experiances as a Chums leader, Carol has learned that you may not know how much time you have to reach a child for Chirst. They may move away, or simply stop coming to club. Two girls she had in Chums were killed in a car accident one morning on their way to school, but Carol knows that they had both accepted Christ, and she will see them again in heaven. "AWANA Club at First Baptist is like a family that reaches out to families with the Good NEWS of Christ. Invite a friend or a parent to join us!!!" -Carol Poppinga |
