Jackie Chan

A great burden lies on Jackie Chan's shoulders. Well, more than one, actually. First and foremost there's the whole saving-the-world-from-Shendu thing. Then there's the fact that a kid niece, who he didn't even know existed, has been sent to live with him. And how on earth is he supposed to finish that research for the University by four o'clock?

Indeed, Jackie's life is far from dull, but he would much prefer peace and quiet over the action-packed adventures he usually has. He is more of the intellectual type that would rather be reading than facing off with villains. That's not to say he's boring: as an archeologist, he gets ample opportunity to travel and learn of past civilizations, which is an adventure in itself, if you think about it.

Well, during one of his expeditions, Jackie stumbles upon one of the twelve ancient Chinese talismans -- which are magic -- in a Bavarian castle. Suddenly, two groups are after him: Section 13, a U.S. government organisation, and the Dark Hand, an international criminal network. Fortunately, the former group catches up with him first, and Jackie is reunited with an old friend, Augustus Black, the captain of the Section 13. After everything is explained to him, Jackie agrees to a temporary research position in Section 13.

Despite watching Uncle perform his crazy antics involving Chi spells and feng shui, Jackie never really believed in magic until the talismans came into his life. In fact, he is still skeptical in some episodes, such as "Tough Luck" and "The Chi Vampire."

Generally he is naive but contemplative, cheerful, friendly, and optimistic. Obedient, yes, but when push comes to shove he can be very stubborn, sometimes even obstinate. He has a strong will, being one of the few people who can resist Valmont's charisma. But his most endearing quality is his good heart. Even if he is clueless at times, he tries his best to make people happy. He cares about everyone, and, while he is thrown reluctantly in his adventures, he will not hesitate to risk his life for another -- whether they be friend of foe.

So while for the most part Jackie is an easy-going person, he can at times be moody. Deep down he has a short temper, as seen in "Bullies." When frustration casts itself upon him that is usually when his bad mood starts.

His greatest fault of all, however, is his foolishness. It can work for or against him: his naivete is often charming and makes him loveable, but at times it can also be exhausting for the people around him. He tends to take action before thinking about the consequences, which usually creates more obstacles for him to face. It is mainly for this reason that he needs either Jade or the J Team to back him up.

Somewhere in his late thirties (36-38, I imagine), Jackie lives with his eccentric Uncle in their antique store, located in San Francisco's Chinatown. He has lived there since he was sent there from Hong Kong as a child, so that Uncle may train him in the Martial Arts. Apparently, Uncle has done one heck of a job at it, too, because by adulthood Jackie has become outstanding - just ask any of the villains he's encountered. ;)
