One out of every four
animal species known
on earth
is a beetle...

With body lengths ranging from
a mere sub-milimetre
to 20cm,
bizarre and beautiful beetles
(insects in the order
Coleoptera)
represent perfection in nature's designs

------------ {} ------------

One of the beetle's most distinguishing characteristic is its hard case
(known as the
elytra).

The hard case/armour not only
protects beetles from predators,
it also shields
them against harsh environments.....
allowing them to
flourish in almost all
habitats on earth
(including deserts, ice fields,
deep caves, underwater, etc.)

My fascination with these living gems
began since childhood...

In the year 2000, I decided to embark
on this rather ambitious project -
to photograh, identify
and record every
single species
I can get my hands on...

Of the estimated 5 million
species of beetles,
only about 350,000
have been described...
this is just the beginning.
