Tropi-Cal Motorhome Club (TCMC)
The Ultrastar by Champion Motorhome Club has joined with the Tropi-Cal Motorhome Club to unite an old and a new choice for serious RV'ers looking to purchase a steel framed coach that can survive many years of hard driving.

Champion -
Manufactured the Ultrastar line of Class A mototrhomes from 1986 until 1992 (later by Firan).  Champion ignored the trade made by many manufacturers to create bigger coaches with less quality.  As a result, many Champion RV's are still on the road over 13 years later though the company no longer manufactures RV's.

National RV -
The closest new gas Class A today that puts quality over fad is National RV's top of the line Tropi-Cal (now only available in Diesel).  Other National RV products (Sea Breeze, Dolphin and Seaside) also include an all steel welded frame and superior construction as well.

Why do so many manufacturers use wood and aluminum frames?

The answer is demographics.  Many RV manufacturers have discovered that the average years on the road of a new Class A buyer is 3-4 years.  After that, they buy a new coach or leave RVing all together.
The average new coach only needs to last around fifty thousand miles or 4 years (whichever comes first).  After 5 years, the value declines percipitously and reliability is seldom measured by consumer groups.  Therefore, a flight from quality has plagued the industry as consumers prefer to purchase more options on cheaper motorhomes that fail to use steel framing.

The Steel Framed Motorhome Club (SFMC) represents owners of both old and new steel framed RV's.   Please click on either of the two clubs above to join today!  There is no fee and your name is not provided to any commercial organization.

A welded steel frame provides the strentgh and security required to put your family on the open road.  Driving an inferior framed vehicle means you can expect everyhting to come apart even on the most modest of impacts to your RV.  In addition, welded steel frames prevent an RV from developing the many annoying rattles you here in aluminum framed vehicle after the first 30,000 miles.
SFMC Rally scheduled for early August at Heron Lake RV Park in Northern Colorado!
