| About Dog 4-H You're probably thinking"what, dog 4-H." Yes,its true, there is a thing called dog 4-H. It is like any other animal 4-H we do all kinds of things such as doggy 4-H fundraisers, bi-weekly training and competition. FUNDRAISERS Like all clubs we have to find ways to get money for our club. We do a dog wash/bake sale once to twice every year. The profits are usually pretty good and everyone gets to watch their doggies get a grooming while munching on goodies. TRAINING Like any sport, dog 4-h takes practice. We do fitting and showing and obedience. Fitting and showing is a modified version of junior showmanship. In obedience we go by AKC rules. All the classes are judged as if it were an AKC show. COMPETITIONS We do one main competition a year. We go to our local fair and compete against one other club. If we are one of the top five competetors we get to go to the state fair and compete against all the other top ranked dogs and their handlers from each county in our state |
