            It’s a hard lesson to learn, but Ruby finally discovers that it isn’t what’s on the outside that’s important, but within. True beauty comes from the heart, and as if to prove his words correctly, that is the instant when his poor abused Feebas – who finally forgives him, evolves into Milotic. He’s grateful, ever so grateful, when the contest ends, and Mimi is happily coiled next to him while confetti showers down upon them.

            However, that’s not what makes him the happiest.

Wallace has forgiven him.

            His teacher is proud of him.

            It’s much, much more than Norman’s acceptance, and when Wallace smiles at him, Ruby feels his heart stop, and the faintest blush tints his cheeks, because he’s suddenly shy and unsure.

            … It’s lucky he doesn’t stay that way for long, and before long, he’s wormed his way into Wallace’s life (and maybe his heart too), so it works.
