“It’s not the end of the world if you lose a match.”
“I know.” Red sighed. “It was only for fun, too, but... but it’s not that I lost. I’m worried about Pichu.”
Lance nodded, understanding. “You didn’t expect him to Baton Pass for Graveler.”
“Mm. She’s still in surgery. I hope she’s all right… she’s still a baby pokémon…”
“Red, worrying yourself sick won’t help Pichu.” Lance said practically. “Besides, if Nurse Joy doesn’t know what to do I’ll help.” Blue light flickered on his fingertips.
Red managed a wan smile. “Really?”
“Of course. Your pokémon are my friends too.”
“… All right…”
Nurse Joy walked outside, and her face was tight and drawn.
“I’ll take care of it.”
She fixed him with a glare. “You’re not qualified.”
“It’s Red’s decision.”
Red stepped in between the two, feeling the air sparking. “That’s enough! Nurse Joy, I trust Lance.”
The Nurse was tight-lipped, but two of her Chanseys wheeled Pichu out. Red sucked in a breath at the sight of the wires and tubes the tiny mouse was hooked up to. Lance waited until they trooped out of the room, before he began to sing.
Red could not understand the words, but as Lance held his hands over Pichu’s body, the mouse began to glow blue. Then, she floated into the air. Finally, Lance’s voice trailed off on the last note and he sighed audibly.
Pichu opened her eyes, blinking.
“Pichu!”
Master! She hopped into his arms with a smile while Master’s mate sat down heavily. Master’s mate must have healed her.
It didn’t feel like the Nurse-girls.
Master ruffled her fur and made sad noises, but she understood.
She knew she had been hurt, but now she was fine! She rubbed his cheek and he smiled brightly.
“See?”
“You’re brilliant, Lance.” Red finished examining Pichu. “She’s… perfect.”
Lance nodded, then blinked as Red pulled him into a hug and then a kiss. The Dragon Master rested his head against his lover’s shoulder.
“I’m glad I was able to help.”
“Thank you so much, Lance…”
“It’s nothing.”
“No, you’re lying. I know it takes a lot out of you to heal pokémon. You use your own life.”
Lance swallowed, as Red’s eyes studied him steadily, affection brimming in their crimson depths. “Red…”
Red silenced him with another kiss. No more words were necessary, to express his thanks, but also, to express more.
Lance understood, and as Red sank down upon him, half-smiled.

Ooh… Friday the Thirteenth…
Somewhat seme-ish Red… and yeah, it’s not Viridian Power.
