Barcelona 2004 - my photo highlights!

Founded by the Carthaginians in the year 230 BC, Barcelona - population 1.7 million - is Spain's most cosmopolitan, forward-looking and stylish city.

Having paid her a visit once already in a previous year for a 'stag do' (British tradition of partying with the groom a few days before his marriage), I will simply list the highlights of my 2004 trip as follows:

-Barri Gotic - the classic medieval quartter of the city once occupied by the Romans
-Barcelona Beach - bit chilly for a swim in January but pretty nonetheless
-Parc Guell - famous Gaudi park up in the hills above Barcelona
-La Sagrada Familia - - Gaudi's famous temple in the centre of town
-Cable car providing views over the Marina
-Montjuic (Jewish Mountain) - a hill of parks, museums, funfairs and stadiums that hosted the 1992 Olympics (oh there's a castle on the top here too)
-Camp Nou - 3rd Largest football stadium in the world (behind Brazil and Mexico)

Oh and don't forget to try out the local specialty - Paella - simply delicious!!
