After doing that one, your Back-Up Relay can be removed. If you have a later model 4 or 5 speed, you don't need that relay - get rid of it! Here's what you want to do - take the two red with black stripe wires and run those back down to your tranny backup lamp switch. With the ignition switch on, splice the wires together and your backup lamps should illuminate. Those wires will reach if you unwrap the main harness and start those wires from about 8 inches from the fuse block. You won't need the black wire. Change the connector ends from female spade type to female bullet receptacles. They connect right to the switch, and you can toss yet another relay.
Remember, my car was originally a Borg-Warner Automatic car, but now
it's a 5 speed. This relay hang out up along the passenger side kick
panel, but guess what - I don't need it anymore. Chances are you
won't, either - yank it and toss it. You won't regret it.
If you're running a single point distributor or an electronic distributor, you can toss a third relay. This relay resides on the radiator or near it within the vicinity of the distributor. This one was used in conjunction with the second set of points in dual point systems. It's an eyesore - get rid of it.
That's all I can think of for now, but keep your eyes peeled for future - Simple Man Solutions.
