Finally the Doc and his creation, The
Capillata, sighted the Shee ship. He opened a Comm channel and most hurridly
explained his new Creation and the portals. Not being the kind to dilly
dally he immediately docked with the large Shee Habitat and enabled his
portals. A few hisses, pops and an odd hum later, the two ships had
connected. The Doc then quickly ran out of the Comm room and over to the
dock, to greet his new visitors.
There he stood stood in front of the containment chamber, puffed with
pride at this his greatest moment, and pushed the release hatch. But what's
this?? Did he just see another hand pushing the same hatch at the same time
as he? The Doc looked about, of course no one was there. No it was just his
excitement and overactive imagination.
:: pop:::
The chamber door slowly started to come down...
The Doc, expecting to be greeted by a few Shee and some Norns, was
somewhat unsettled to hear the throaty sounds of the Grendels from inside
the chamber.
A well, the Doc thought, still up to the same old splicing experiments.
Suddenly pandemonium seemed to have ensued from inside the chamber, the Doc
couldn't see but it sounded as if a War was going on.
"Oooo NO!", the Doc cried out loud.
The Grendals must have broken out of their habitat and attacked the boarding
party. Just then the chamber door smashed to the floor, and a flood of
fighting Gendals, Norns, Ettins and Shee came pouring out, faster then the
small workshop could accommodate them. The Doc turned to flee and noticed a
portal opening behind him, more Ettins were coming through this one. In a
panic the Doc made for the door and scrambled to get back into the Comm room
making sure to lock everyone out behind him.
This is impossible, the Doc thought, the ship is over run by more
then one habitat could have supported and random portals are opening
themselves all over the Capillata. All attempts at contacting The Shee ship
failed, all the Doc could get is what sounded like scrambled overlapped
speech. Scans of the Shee habitat were just as confused, one minute it was
full of Grendals, the next Norns and so on, changing rapidly, and portals
seemed to be opening themselves randomly there too.
... a few days later ...
The Doc exhausted, starved and near delirium had succeeded in
figuring out what had gone wrong. His portals didn't travel through space
and time at all, but universes, quantum universes. All the same and all
different by minute amounts through the ages, and all existing in the same
space when connected to his ship!! Now all the Shee, Norns, Grendals and
Ettins, on all the Shee habitats, in all the universes, that happened to
follow such a course in their timeline, as to be here now.. were converging
and overlapping. This was causing serious distortions and was the cause for
all the random portals.
