Insadong

The reason why I recommend Insadong is one of the more popular places to visit in Seoul. If you are looking for a traditional experience, this is the place for you!! It only takes a walk through Insadong for you to feel like you are engrossed in Korea's past!!For a real taste of Korea Insadong is a must! :>
Address Insadong, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Description In the rapidly changing center of Seoul, it represents the best chance to catch a glimpse of a more traditional side of Korea. It is a relatively small area famous for gallery traditional restaurants This area enables you to quickly put the bustle of nearby Jongno behind them and enjoy some measure of calmness amid more aesthetic surroundings. And The shops in Insadong are cery popular among all age group, because each store brings it's own uniqueness.

Insadong presents an impressive array of book stores, antique shops, souvenir shops, art and craft stores, art supply shops, some 40 art galleries, some 20 hanbok (Korean costume) shops and about 70 teahouses and restaurants.
Potery are the main items representing Insadong, which are very popular among foreign visitors. You'll find along both sides of the street shop owners explaining their specialized merchandise to their customers. There are shops that see old are works along with Korean painting as well as modern pantings.
The galleries are the heartbeat of Insadong. There are 100 galleries in the area. Even though I didn't have a chance to visit gallery, if you and your friend are interested in art it will be best place to visit!^^
" Sunday cultural mart " open in Insadong antique street Seoul's Insadong district, a unique cultural attraction popular with foreign visitors, is now closed to traffic on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and becomes a great outdoor cultural mart where pedestrians can walk at leisure, untroubled by cars. On both sides of the auto-free street are stores and stands selling all kinds of antiques, such as old books, coins, and other crafts, as well as the ceramics and pottery that are already famous specialties of Insadong.

Among the various cafe, I personally recommend "Kyung-in Art Gallery" It is my favorite place!^^* It is little hard to find but It is really good place to go with friend. If you enter the gallery we can feel Korean old house. The beauty of traditional Korean style housing will make you fell good. There is also beatiful garden. "Dawon" located inside of Kyeong-in Art Gallery is popular traditional teahouse. You can taste a different traditional korean tea. Once I drank "Mae-sil tea(plum tea)" it was nice.^^
