vacation on nosy be
Fishing boats on the beach at Tanikely. Christine and I went to Nosy Be for a week in May 2004. This picture was taken on a small island off the coast of the main island Nosy Be...we got a ride on a motor boat out there and spent an afternoon snorkelling and feasting on fresh crab, lobster, and fish with coconut rice.
Chris and I took a lot of pictures of us at sunset...but this was the best of the lot. This was taken on the beach at Andilana, by far the most beautiful beach that we saw on all of Nosy Be. To get there, you have to hire a taxi to take you for a half-hour drive north from the main beach town until the road ends in Andilana.
With two volunteer friends on Nosy Be. These guys,Kristen and Hadyn, are lucky enough to actually live on this beach resort island. Yeah, Peace Corps put them up there for two years, and said,"Have a good time." But they are great people, so I think they deserve the best. Here, the three of us are taking a break from dancing at a club in Ambatolaoka, the most developed beach town on the island.
Sunset at Andilana beach. The colors were even more dramatic in person...but I think it's still a damn good picture. Amazing what a 2.0 megapixel digital camera can do.
Christine and I raising our glasses of punch coco to a memorable vacation on Nosy Be. Punch coco, by the way, needs to be exported to the States and served up in trendy New York City bars and restaurants. It is amazing coconut flavored rum, made with fresh coconut milk...Americans don't know what they're missing.
