Game12.zip Bane of
Llewellyn Ray & Maureen
This is yet another great
design from The Realm. I'm starting to run out of original superlative
adjectives. The only problem is one that occurs in most of the Realm's designs
"DON'T DONATE TO THE TEMPLES". It locks up my game. Has anyone else
had this happen in a Realm design? I'm beginning to wonder if my poor little
486 is not capable of handling these bigger designs. There were also a few
minor spelling errors, but they did not detract from the game. This is a
conversion of two modules I had never heard of before, what a treat! You are a
group of middle level adventurers running errands for a Council. There are
prophecies that must be interpreted. Encounters that are determined by your
attitude towards the creature and wonderful puzzles that must be analyzed. I
had to restart when I realized I needed to know the color in I's Tower. Make
sure you use the Find Traps spell or you'll be sorry. In fact, my cleric's only
have FT as their 2nd level component.

Ray,
I thought I'd send you a
few comments about Game12. It's been a few days since I finished it, so I may
not be as specific as sometimes. Overall, I enjoyed it, as have every Realm
game. The main annoying part, as you already know, was that whole Ishcabeble
thing. I am glad to know that you didn't understand how the tower was supposed
to work either. I ended up going into every room on each level since I didn't
understand how it was supposed to work. My thought was that the star on the
lowest level gave some clue to the order of gems or the rooms to go in or some
such, but I didn't figure it out. Ah well.
The rest of the module
was quite good. I was disappointed that I didn't get a boomerang, since I
managed to avoid fighting any Amazons, though. I thought you did a nice job of
making the player do some of the work, especially in the sequence on the
rooftop with the pteranodons, where you had to choose the right thing to say or
a PC would be thrown to his/her death. It really made me think about what to
say each time! I've spent a lot of time building these PCs up, and I don't want
them to be lizard food!
Hmmm...I may have to go
back and play it again, as I can't think of any other specific comments at the
moment. As always, the art and hacks and music were excellent, and it played
smoothly from beginning to end. I am definitely looking forward to
Tsojcanth/Tharizdun.
