Greetings CHADD Members and Supporters!

Meeting: May 9, Tuesday,
Time: 7pm
Place: Monroe County Library, Room 1A
Subject: Russell Barkley’s In-Service Presented by Joan Hart
Year End Round-Up
Professor
Russell Barkley did his usual bang-up job of presenting the most recent
information on all aspects of AD/HD when he spoke in Indianapolis two weeks
ago. Since the information he provided
on “AD/HD in children and Adolescents:
Strategies for Clinicians Educators, and Parents” is so timely
and will be useful for all of us, I have decided to present it to our group in
a brief overview (copies available). I
think you will find his sensible ideas on medication, behavioral management, deeper
understanding of AD/HD, among other topics as compelling as I did.
It
was nice to see so many teachers, psychologists and parents at Barkley’s
seminars and I hope they will attend this meeting to help me out. He is the most eminent scientist researching
AD/HD issues. His information should
get widespread attention locally.
We
have a number of year-end issues to wrap up on May 9. Bring in your recommendations for teachers and other local
professionals who have most helped your child or adult with AD/HD. We will honor them at the beginning of the
next school year, in September.
Some
members have expressed an interest in a June picnic. Come to help plan it.
We
need to decide our goals for our seminar for next year on AD/HD. Lisa and Amy have volunteered to help. I will need more volunteers. I am thinking of a half-day panel of local
experts on AD/HD. Please let me know if
you can help with this event (334-1524).
We
have some money we could use to purchase more books and videos for our library. Bring suggestions for subjects or titles of
books and videos that you would like us to purchase.
I
have some new pamphlets from Barkley’s quarterly publication The AD/HD
Report to hand out and I hope to have AD/HD Warehouse catalogues for
the group. Those of you who are members
know how helpful these CHADD publications are!
See
you May 9!
All
the Best,
