I'm a big Sudoku fan but on some of the more challenging puzzles, the process of entering all of the pencil marks as I solve the puzzles can get a bit tedious and I was going through too many erasers as I refined the solution.

I decided to develop a spreadsheet application to aid in removing the tedious aspects of working out a solution.

I started by generating a grid that keeps track of the pencil marks then I added some helper buttons that aid in finding solution strategies for some of the more challenging puzzles. Even if you use the helper buttons heavily, you can hone your skills by finding the best ways to approach these puzzles. Then you can gradually "wean yourself" from the helper buttons using only the pencil marks to solve the puzzles, thereby improving your skills.
