Beloved Earth Sky
("American Pie" by Don McLean)
Author: valleyofstags, FA#22

Long, long time ago...I can still remember how,
the blue sky used to stir my heart.
And I knew that if I dare,
That I could fly above the air,
And maybe of that sky become a part.

But the black of space is cold and cruel,
Though the stars look like jewels.
There's no room for mistakes,
Not like the one that I made.

I can't remember if I sighed,
When Earth was ripped from my sight.
I only thought I never might,
Become an alien.

So...Bye, bye, to that pale blue Earth sky,
Flew my spaceship through a wormhole, but I can't tell you why.
It's taking all my control not to just sit and cry.
Tell me, is this where I'm going to die?
Is this where I'm going to die?

I appeared in mortal combat,
Didn't recogize a thing that,
Might have been my home.
I fell into a living ship,
Full of convicts and strange misfits,
Now I barely know which way is which.

Well I know that there is a way home.
I've seen it through that whirling cone.
I just have to find the way.
I can't stay here one more day.

I am a single lonely human male.
Who has flown his ship through a gale.
Home's my goal and I just can't fail.
I won't be an alien.

And I'm singin'....

Bye, bye, my beloved Earth sky,
Flew my spaceship through a wormhole, but I can't tell you why.
I tell myself I'm going home, I'm going to try,
Tell me, is this where I'm going to die?
Is this where I'm going to die?

Did you know there are aliens,
Who are blue and worships sticks,
And are known as Delvians?

Do you know that Luxan males,
Are quite tall and have tendrils,
And are known to brandish Qualta blades?

And Hynerians are short and stout.
They'll steal you blind, without a doubt.
Tiny little tyrants,
Riding on their throne sleds.

I've met a young Nebari lass.
She is bold and full of brass.
She teases me with all her sass,
Because she is my friend.

She has me thinkin'..

Bye, bye, my beloved Earth sky,
Flew my spaceship through a wormhole but I can't tell you why.
I hope I'm going home, I think it's a lie,
Tell me, is this where I'm going to die?
Is this where I'm going to die?

Live fast, fly fast,
Anything to make life last,
Starburst to another sun.
I've made friends and I've lost friends,
I'll do anything for my friends.
I can't believe the things I've done.

Sometimes my life feels like it should.
I've met a woman who just could,
Fill my empty heart.
We've made a shaky start.

But the path to love is filled with pain.
I've tried over and over again,
To show her she can trust.
To show her that she must.

And I'm singin'....

Bye, bye, my beloved Earth sky.
I've flown through a wormhole, I can't tell you why.
I'm given up hope, I'm just one lost guy.
This is where I'm going to die.
This is where I'm going to die.

This living ship has become my place.
A dysfuctional family lost in space,
All with fences yet to mend.
John be clever, John be fast,
Live each day as if your last.
Cause you never know when it will end.

As aliens stride through my mind
Looking for secrets they might find
It's worse than a prison cell
These desperate visions of hell

Peacekeepers pursue me through the night.
I can never turn and fight,
If I try then this just might
Be where I'm going to die.

I asked the priest for some happy news.
That it was something I could use.
She turned her head and just refused.

I put my heart upon my sleeve,
I asked a girl if she could leave.
But it was so much more than she could give.

Here in space, no one hears your screams.
No one knows your hopes, or your dreams.
It's as if you've never spoken.
It leaves your soul so broken.

Of all the things I fear the most,
I fear that it's my soul I've lost.
I fear that I've become a ghost,
That I'm no longer me.

My soul is saying...

Bye, bye, my beloved Earth sky.
I'll never find a wormhole through which I can fly,
This is where I'll stay no matter how hard I try,
This is where I'm going to die.
This is where I'm going to die.
