This section is about a guy I met 10 years ago upon first arriving in the south. Since meeting him, I have learned alot about life. Although he is not a Taoist sage, he is nonetheless worthy of mention.
Recently, Long Keshit, Deener and I attended a live Ween show in Oxford Miss. It was great fun!
Deener got a their signatures on his eviction notice. Oxford Mini Review ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Woke up @ noon and the songs are still playing in my head. The Library was a nice general admition venue. A cozy brick building located at the Square in Oxford Miss. As we waited in line outside, a cool spring wind kept everyone somewhat somber. Had it been warmer I'm sure everyone would have been more charged up. Just as they opened the doors a young man yelled out, "Is anyone brown?" Only one die hard fan responded. Inside drinks could be had at two fully stocked bars. The staff was friendly and competent. The guys finally hit the stage about 9:30, and everyone seemed fully amped by that point. They opened with a rif that I wasn't unfamiliar with, but then went right into "The Golden Eel." Plenty of fine Ole Miss young ladies to be seen stage side. The stage was lit by two white lights and one red and one blue. Next they played "Baby Bitch," a song that changed my life, and got me through the end of my last relationship without committing suicide, LOL. They played the melodies beautifully, and I really enjoyed that one. The band is getting better with time and still doing a fantastic job. Cluade was back on drums and doing great. Next, when asked by the crowd, "Where's the Cheese?", they hit off with "Marble Tullip Juicy Tree." It was my first WEEN show so I was really digging the tunes by now. My friend that turned me on to WEEN. Had insisted we go back for the video camera just before the show started. As I sit here writing this, listening to the goodies all over again, I sure am glad that he was so persistent. The Library was cooled by a great AC with four noticable vents that pushed some mighty cold air out which kept the tempreture very nice. Geen took a sip off his chilled Becks and annouced a tune off their upcoming album. This soft melody, of which I can't remember the name, held with real WEEN style. A nice soft melody and great vocals mixed with enough psychodelic sounds to alter my state under the New moon on Beltane. The boys are looking young and fit and it's really showing in their presentation. Now Geen passed off his guitar and they played "Take Me Away." Next, "Even If You Don't." Then, "Voodoo Lady." They played this one as a kindof double split deal. Truly wonderful ear candy! I could hear request from the crowd being shouted out. Satisfaction was found with, "Push the Little Daisies." Next, only three things seperate "The Mollusk" from the sea. A fan responsive yes, yes, and no, no, finish up that tune. They were playing the Greats. By the way if you want a copy of this show, hit up Garmonbozia. They played a bunch more hits, well up into the night. They finished up about midnight. Well worth the meager price of the ticket, and the atmosphere was relaxing. It is the perfect show to take you lady to or enjoy with you buddies. Thanks to my friends' contacts, we partied backstage with the fella's after the show. A dream come true for this WEENER. I have to go to work. Be sure to treat yourself and catch them on tour soon. I had a great time.Re: Oxford Mini Review ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mang.....you spelled Jean's name wrong. Hehe...someone had to fuck with you over that. I know noone here knows much about 'ol IrishLad, but I had to live with him during a dark portion of his life. I started teaching him to play guitar and learning to play and sing Baby Bitch really brought him back to reality. The sight of him, backstage, hugging the topless, sweaty Papa Gener was almost enough to bring a tear to my eye......if it weren't for all the free beer in those coolers. Thanks to whoever it was that gave me the J&P cds that night. They kick ass. And the beautiful girl from Florence, Alabama.....Dammit, I lost your phone number, if you are on this forum, let me know!
