| There
is a need to share the music, the culture and the love The Beatles gave
the world with people of all ages. The Beatles' popularity is a direct
result of their music that has withstood the test of time. When the
four members teamed up, little did they know that they would mold a generation.
They became teenage icons but their talent catapulted the group to success.
Their hard work and devotion to their music would make them stand apart
and above the rest. Although there are a number of reasons for their
lasting popularity, their contributions as innovators have secured them
a place in history. They were the first group of the "British Invasion,"
and they opened the minds and hearts of Americans to become receptive to
other British musical acts. They paved the way for their colleagues
to receive a fair amount of publishing and performance royalties.
They learned to use merchandising to increase their popularity and appeal
to mass audiences. They brought an entirely fresh look to America
and wound up dictating the fashion of an era. With their associates
they had a lasting impression on the art world. Their album cover
art would revolutionize the pop-recording industry. Their association
with producer George Martin would have an astounding effect on the sound-recording
industry, and new technological advances were made. Their film and
television appearances have captured precious moments in time. Their
influence has lasted and that influence went far beyond music. They
were serious and relevant artists that changed our cultural society in
many ways. The Beatles meant many different things to many different
people. Their contributions to the cultural world and the humanities have
captivated millions, and their significance requires understanding. Today
a new generation of listeners is joining in and appreciating the creative
genius of the greatest musical group of all time.
